Full Job Description
We are seeking a collaborative, solutions-focusedto join our Energy Trust of Oregon team serving the manufacturing and agricultural sectors in Oregon.

This is both a technical and relationship-heavy field engineering position that will promote Energy Trust of Oregon's energy efficiency offerings to customers, contractors, and industry associations. This multidisciplinary role combines customer market research, local outreach, and energy efficiency project scoping to influence viable energy-saving projects.

Key Details:
  • Location: Portland, OR and surrounding areas preferred. Other locations along the I-5 corridor in the Willamette Valley and Southern Oregon will be considered. Relocation assistance is provided.
  • Travel: Travel to support outreach at expos and trade events, as well as customer site visits across the state of Oregon; approximately 40% of the time.
  • Pay: Full base pay range is $85,000 - $140,000 commensurate with skills and experience. Our target hiring range is at or below mid-point to allow for growth and internal equity. All positions are eligible for an annual bonus and profit share on top of base pay.

Position Overview: The Outreach Engineer is a technical outreach role focused on helping industrial utility customers engage with energy efficiency as a cost-saving resource at their facilities. This person will serve as a trusted field resource, building relationships across Oregon while developing expertise in industrial system efficiency and energy efficiency project identification. The role is well suited for a self-starter who enjoys learning technical details, solving practical problems, and collaborating with a wide range of people in the field and internal teams.
  • Perform market research to identify non-participating utility customers across all industries in Oregon.
  • Develop strategic plans to proactively engage customers to increase participation in Energy Trust's Industry & Agriculture energy efficiency incentive offerings.
  • Identify and overcome barriers to customer participation.
  • Attend industry events and association meetings. Conduct regular calls, field visits, customer meetings, presentations, and trainings.
  • Actively build network to engage the industrial and agricultural community.
  • Conduct cold calls to target customers and respond to incoming customer leads.
  • Collaborate with customers and contractors on site to identify energy efficiency projects, collect system information, and facilitate a seamless connection with our account management and engineering teams.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records in Salesforce and use Microsoft-based tools collaboration with internal teams and regular reporting.
  • Work closely with account managers, engineering, project processing team, marketing, and other program partners to provide a seamless customer experience while driving participation in the Industrial & Agriculture program.

Qualifications: We are looking for a technical, solutions-focused team player who is energized by engaging the community to help industrial and irrigation contractors participate in energy efficiency incentive programs.

Ideal candidates will have some of the following skills and experience:
  • Engineering degree and/or great experience required
  • Experience in energy efficiency or mechanical engineering fields
  • Experience with local industrial sector, industrial technical services, and/or industrial account management
  • Working knowledge of industrial mechanical systems and the key inputs that determine electricity and natural gas consumption
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • An energetic self-starter with excellent organizational, scheduling, and planning skills
  • An organized, proactive, and solutions-focused approach to outreach and networking
  • An outgoing person who is excited to make new connections; adaptable to dynamic settings
  • Excellent writing, verbal communication, presentation, and public speaking skills
