Job Title: Outpatient Psychiatric Medical Director Fort Logan Campus



Job Summary:

The Colorado Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health (OCFMH) has established the Outpatient Services Division, a program to expand the continuum of care for individuals with serious mental illness and provide a transition from inpatient level of care to a less restrictive setting in the community while addressing their care needs.

This position is not located on Anschutz Medical Campus.

The focus of this position is to provide continued support with high intensity treatment including PHP/IOP level of care, individual therapy, competency restoration, medication services, court support, clinical case management, and assertive community treatment.

This position is considered full-time (1.0 FTE).

Examples of Work Performed:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the psychiatric supervision of clients treated on an outpatient basis and provide continuity of care for psychiatric medication prescriptions for clients entering and transitioning from Outpatient Services ahead of transition to a new provider.
  • Responsible for responding to psychiatric crisis and/or escalation of psychiatric symptoms for clients in Outpatient Services and meet with clients on a scheduled and as needed basis for treatment plan reviews/medication management appointments.
  • Oversee and renew court-ordered outpatient civil certifications for those clients requiring that higher degree of supervised care.
  • Responsible for making decisions and assisting with coordination regarding readmission to a higher level of care for these clients, when necessary.
  • Provide direct supervision of PAs and RNs who will also be providing treatment services to the clients Outpatient Services.
  • Collaborate as part of a treatment team that would include case managers, behavioral health specialists, and mental health clinicians, and other providers.
  • Attend required treatment team meetings to review the status of individuals within the program and provide input regarding readiness for discharge.
  • Assist administrative staff with monitoring admission referrals for medical appropriateness. Provide second-level review of complex cases and serve as resource for leadership.
  • Support the work of the Credentialing Committee, the Coding Committee, and other leadership work for the Clinic programs.
  • Work closely with the OCFMH Division Director and Deputy Director of Outpatient Services to develop policies and procedures and collaborate regarding the overall operation of the program.


Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and in person at the Fort Logan, CO location.

Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice:

  • MD/DO, CO Physician License for a CO Physician License
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry
  • Active DEA License/Registration

  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • 2+ Leadership experience.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice: $302,935 - $302,940

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
