Full Job Description
The Orlando Market Leader is responsible for advancing Brown and Caldwell's presence, reputation, and growth throughout the Orlando and Central Florida municipal water and wastewater market. This visible leadership role offers the opportunity to help shape one of Florida's most dynamic and rapidly growing regions while partnering with local governments and utilities to address critical water infrastructure challenges.

The successful candidate will establish a strong internal and external leadership presence, build trusted relationships throughout the Central Florida water community, serve as Client Service Manager for select key clients, and help position Brown and Caldwell as a preferred partner for municipal clients. Working closely with Area, Growth, and Project Delivery leadership, the Orlando Market Leader will direct strategic growth initiatives, identify and pursue emerging opportunities, and guide business planning activities that support long-term market success.

This role requires strong business acumen and business management capabilities, including the ability to balance client needs, investment decisions, workforce planning, project delivery objectives, and financial performance to achieve sustainable growth. The Orlando Market Leader will help drive market performance through strategic decision making, effective resource management, and a commitment to operational excellence.

The successful candidate will build, lead, and retain a talented Orlando team while fostering an environment focused on engagement, collaboration, accountability, and career development. Success in this role requires a leader who is passionate about developing future leaders, mentoring staff, and creating opportunities for employees to grow and thrive.

Active participation and leadership within Florida's water industry is expected, including involvement in Florida WEA/WEF, the Florida Water Resources Conference (FWRC), and local or regional DBIA chapters, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize organizational health by focusing on hiring, developing, retaining, engaging and allocating talent.
  • Support the Area Directors in managing operations including staffing levels, overhead allocation strategies, constantly improving operational metrics, strategic and business planning and process improvements.
  • Build and sustain strong, deep and sincere relationships with clients - ensuring they continue to make BC their company of choice.
  • Operate with passion, collaboration, and optimism by inspiring others, chasing after continuous improvement and innovation, demonstrating good judgement, ethical decision making, and delivering high-impact results.
  • Recruit, development, engage talent - realizing that talent is our business, and the way BC will continue to grow.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a market sector strategic business/action plan by identifying market drivers, market trends, and client needs. Play a critical role in identifying and developing new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in developing profitable business with new and existing clients.
  • Drives market sales to meet total year-over-year goals.
  • Identifies and develops key clients. Serves as the CSM for select key clients. Supports other CSMs in advancing client relationships, converting opportunities into revenue using BC's proven Plan To Win capture strategy, and encouraging technical practice diversification.
  • Make new client Go-No Go (GNG) decisions based on financial stability and market sector strategy.
  • Makes final pursuit GNG decisions. Supports select pursuits through client relationship development and/or through development of strategy by participation in pursuit activities.
  • Develop and expand client relationships that generates repeat business for the lifecycle of the project and inclusive of all services provided by BC.
  • Communicate change and business decisions across the area and organization.
  • Support development and delivery of the market or area business plan by collaborating with the Area, Growth, Project Delivery and BU leadership including in support of planned/forecasted goals for total revenue, net revenue, total direct labor (DL; import + source) and indirect labor (IDL).
  • Participate in strategic business planning processes and construction of bottoms up annual budgeting.
  • Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing team by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering a culture of engagement, growth, and accountability.
  • Support workload planning, performance management, and team operations to align resources with business priorities
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.

Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in increasing responsibility roles including operational management of a division or similar Profit and Loss center leadership experience
  • Experience in environmental consulting, engineering, construction and operations industry
  • Previous leadership experience and experience mentoring employees
  • Experience growing services within established market areas.
  • Experienced in annual business planning, strategy development, and implementation.
  • Experience managing a large portfolio with a substantial impact on the business.
  • Experience managing successfully within a similar division-based business model


Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated success leading municipal water and wastewater business development, client service, and project delivery within Florida.
  • Established relationships within the Orlando and Central Florida municipal water and wastewater market.
  • Experience serving as Client Service Manager for key municipal utility or local government clients.
  • Strong business acumen, including experience with business planning, financial performance, resource management, and market-level decision making.
  • Proven ability to hire, build, lead, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing teams and future leaders.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic market growth plans and leading major pursuits or capture efforts.
  • Active participation in Florida WEA/WEF, FWRC, DBIA, or similar industry organizations.
  • Knowledge of Florida water, wastewater, reclaimed water, resiliency, and infrastructure funding programs.
  • Florida PE license or ability to obtain Florida licensure preferred.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business or Construction Management, Science, or equivalent experience required

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $144,000 - $196,000
