Your Opportunity

We are seeking an Oracle BI/Data Warehouse Developer with strong experience across the Oracle analytics and reporting ecosystem. This role focuses on translating business needs into practical intelligence solutions through business analysis, SQL, dimensional data understanding, report development, dashboard support, Oracle BI Repository (RPD) modeling, and effective use of Oracle BI tools. As a core member of Stantec's Enterprise Dashboard and Reporting Solutions (EDRS) team, you will help deliver and maintain trusted analytics, reporting content, BI subject areas, and catalog objects that support enterprise decision-making. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to improve reporting solutions, troubleshoot data and access issues, and ensure RPD metadata, presentation layers, and BI subject areas are reliable, usable, and aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Report Development and DevOps
• Design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, analyses, and BI catalog objects using Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) and Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC).
• Translate business requirements into intuitive reporting and visualization solutions.
• Perform impact assessments and provide effort estimates for reporting enhancements.
• Perform unit testing and integrated testing of BI solutions.
• Document BI reporting solutions and technical specifications.
• Support production reporting applications and troubleshoot reporting, metadata, and access issues.
• Promote reporting standards and visualization best practices.
• Develop ad hoc reports using Oracle reporting tools such as BI Publisher.
• Develop and maintain BI reporting standards, dashboard standards, and Oracle BI metadata (RPD) best practices.
• Provide regular updates and communications on development and operational support activities, including status updates and priorities.

Architecture
• Provide subject matter expertise and support the creation of architectural and technical deliverables.
• Design, develop, and implement data warehouse and BI report solutions leveraging:
• Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) and Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC)
• Oracle BI Repository (RPD) metadata modeling, including Physical, Business Model & Mapping (BMM), and Presentation Layers
• BI dashboards, analyses, catalog objects, and subject areas
• Enterprise data warehouse subject areas
• Assess and document the impact of enhancements and customizations.
• Participate in code reviews and planning sessions.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and integration patterns.
• Support BI solution configuration, dashboard optimization, and report performance improvements.

Data Engineering
• Develop SQL queries, reporting logic, and BI solutions to support business reporting requirements.
• Develop and maintain Oracle BI Repository (RPD) metadata models, logical business models, Presentation Layer objects, dashboards, analyses, and reporting solutions.
• Ensure data quality through thorough testing and validation of new or updated analytical subject areas[.
• Utilize dimensional and relational data models to develop effective reporting and analytics solutions.
• Create summarization, aggregation, and reporting logic for high-volume datasets.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
• Engage with cross-functional work teams, including Finance, HR, Projects, and other groups, to enhance understanding of BI subject areas.
• Analyze and troubleshoot tool, data, and access issues by collaborating with the Support Management team.
• Manage stakeholder expectations about what can and cannot be incorporated into BI subject areas and help stakeholders make effective use of the presentation layer.

Security and Data Governance
• Enforce data governance policies, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and implementing application roles or LDAP groups to control access to the dashboards.
• Support implementation of application roles, LDAP groups, and row-level security to ensure users access only authorized information.

Additional Duties
• Develop standards and best practices for BI reporting solutions, dashboards, RPD metadata, and analytical content.
• Document BI reporting solutions, metadata models, and reporting standards to support maintainability and knowledge sharing.
• Analyze and improve dashboard, report, and metadata performance to provide an optimal user experience.
• Identify opportunities to improve or extend frameworks and standards.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Support programming policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices as they relate to business intelligence.

Qualifications

Our Ideal Candidate
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and enterprise data structures that support business intelligence and reporting.
• Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience with Oracle relational databases.
• Experience working with BI and analytics tools, with a preference for Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), or Oracle BI Publisher.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and experience diagnosing and resolving reporting, metadata, dashboard, and data issues.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to data quality, ensuring reliable, trusted insights for stakeholders.
• Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, with a strong understanding of how data enables business outcomes.
• Knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) modules-including Projects, HRMS, GL, FA, AP, AR, PO-and their data structures or integrations (considered as an asset).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with business users, technical teams, and leadership.
• Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to iterative development cycles (preferred).
• 8+ years of application or data solution development experience, ideally in enterprise environments.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
