Overview

The primary purpose of the OR Orthopedic Service Line Coordinator (Coordinator) is ensuring the delivery of quality patient care for orthopedic surgical patients ranging from neonate through adulthood. The Coordinator role assures accurate preparation of each orthopedic surgical case, coordinates instrument and implant needs, updates preference cards, meets with orthopedic surgeons to assure preference cards are correct. Actively participates in the orientation and training of surgical scrub technologist and Registered Nurses new to the operating room. The position acts as a liaison to all healthcare professionals in problem solving patient care issues. Must demonstrate and maintain knowledge and competency in technical skills and use expertise to raise the level of competency of the team. The Coordinator has practical knowledge of the American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, AORN standards of Operating Room Standards, and/or Association of Surgical Technologists Standards, The Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting, and National Patient Safety Goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or a related healthcare field is preferred. Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting with six (6) years of CST experience required. BLS (CPR) certification is
required.
