Full Job Description
Drs. Hiura & Hiura Optometrists in San Francisco, California, is seeking either a part-time or full-time Optometrist to join its respected third-generation private practice with deep roots in the community and a long-standing reputation for warm, personalized care. Patients are at the heart of everything the practice does, and many have trusted the team across multiple generations of their families. You’ll find more than a workplace; you’ll become part of a close-knit, team-centered environment where patients and staff are treated like family, genuine relationships matter, and every team member helps carry forward a legacy of trusted eye care. New graduates and recent professionals are encouraged to apply, with an ideal start date by August 11.

What you'll do:

As the newest Optometrist on the team, you’ll provide comprehensive routine and medical eye care in a private practice setting, including eye examinations, ocular disease management, glasses and contact lens prescriptions, and patient education. You’ll document care accurately in the electronic health record, coordinate with healthcare providers as needed, and collaborate with opticians, technicians, and front desk staff to support smooth patient flow and an exceptional patient experience. You’ll also work with advanced technology, including Optos, HFA-3, OCT with anterior segment, autorefractor, and topographer, while helping grow specialty services and maintain a friendly, patient-centered environment. This role can be part-time or full-time and offers 24 to 40 hours per week, with 30- to 45-minute exam slots across the optometrist team.

Who you are:

You’re a kind, personable, and clinically skilled optometrist who is genuinely invested in patient care and excited to grow with a respected private practice. You take pride in providing thorough exams, building meaningful patient relationships, and communicating clearly with patients and team members. Confident in caring for a diverse range of patients and visual needs, you value continuous learning, stay current with advancements in optometry and personalized treatment, and thrive in a collaborative environment alongside opticians, technicians, and administrative staff. With a patient-centered mindset and a positive, team-oriented approach, you’ll help support the practice’s continued growth, strong reputation, and exceptional standard of care.

Why you'll love San Francisco:
Living and working in San Francisco offers an inspiring blend of culture, creativity, and everyday convenience in one of the world’s most iconic cities. From its distinct neighborhoods and celebrated dining scene to its parks, waterfront views, museums, festivals, and easy access to outdoor adventures throughout the Bay Area, San Francisco makes it easy to build a lifestyle that feels vibrant and well-rounded. Whether you’re exploring local shops and restaurants, taking in arts and entertainment, enjoying scenic walks along the bay, or discovering the city’s rich history and community spirit, San Francisco offers endless ways to feel connected, energized, and at home.

You’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • Competitive salary of $155k to $200k depending on experience
  • Production bonus

  • 401k
  • Medical insurance (full-time only)
  • Malpractice insurance
