Reporting to the Senior Manager - Operations and Maintenance and/or the Site Supervisor, the Operator works in a team environment with a multi-skilled crew. They operate and maintain run-of-river hydroelectric facilities in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. This is a remote camp position with a shift schedule of 8 days on, 6 days off with paid travel days.

Your day-to-day!

Operations
  • Monitor power plant(s) for efficiency and reliability either locally or remotely.
  • Respond to and resolve alarms to ensure safe and continuous operation.
  • Ensure that power plants are utilizing water efficiently and in accordance with the operating permit.
  • Monitor for general facility and equipment conditions while on site. Rectify minor items as they arise. Report items that can't be rectified immediately.

Maintenance
  • Use industry best practices while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Adapt to situations where tasks may not have detailed step-by-step instructions, using sound judgement to complete work safely and effectively.
  • Execute preventive and corrective work orders as assigned through the Maintenance program.
  • Work with and assist other trades or contractors as required.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and documents in support of maintenance and operations tasks.
  • Apply knowledge and logic in troubleshooting operating anomalies.

Administration
  • Record maintenance activities as they progress.
  • Order parts and materials as they are consumed or as the need arises.
  • Update documentation that supports ongoing operations such as powerhouse, fluid, and equipment logs.
  • Attend training as scheduled and submit records as required.

Equipment and Facilities
  • Operate equipment and tooling according to company standards.
  • Maintain facilities, yards and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.

Health & Safety and Compliance
  • Adhere to Innergex Health & Safety standards and programs by:
    • Completing hazard assessments and field level risk assessments before starting work
    • Using appropriate company supplied PPE
    • Maintaining situational awareness and identifying changing site conditions that could affect workers, equipment, or public safety
    • Participating in safety meetings, inspections, drills, and incident reviews as required
    • Stopping work when unsafe conditions are identified and escalating concerns through the appropriate channels
  • Act safely, honestly, respectfully, and ethically in all work activities while complying with company policies, regulatory requirements and the Innergex Code of Ethics.

Your skills, our requirements!
  • 3-5 plus years' experience working in a related field.
  • Red Seal certification as a Millwright or other relevant trade or equivalent experience.
  • A valid driver's licence. Class 1 or 3 driver's license with airbrake endorsement is an asset
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and documents.
  • Experience with equipment such as, but not limited to boats, snowmobiles, snowcats and chainsaw operations may be required for some sites.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote industrial environment requiring:
    • Vehicle and equipment operations on forest service roads and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Moving heavy items sometimes exceeding 50 lbs.
    • Work in and around water and/or on uneven ground.
    • Work from ladders or scaffolds.
    • Work in confined spaces.
    • Work in loud environments.
  • Ability to maintain a working environment conducive to teamwork, creativity, and positive morale.
  • Willingness and ability to assist other trades and complete other duties as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and respond to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to research repair solutions as required.
  • Experience with Backhoe/Excavator operation is an asset.
  • Previous run-of river-hydro facility experience is an asset.
  • Fabrication and welding experience is an asset.
  • Basic skills with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with computer-based control applications.


Additional considerations!
  • The position is based at the Kwalsa and/or Upper Lillooet site, in British Columbia.
  • This position is a O3 level.


Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for roles at Innergex varies based on a wide range of factors, including skill set, education, and relevant experience. We are committed to pay equity and take internal equity among current team members into account when determining any final offer.

To support pay transparency, the hiring range for this position is $80 000-102 000 per year, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Your final base salary, if hired, will be determined by factors such as your skills, education, and experience, along with our commitment to internal equity.

Please note that it is not typical to hire at the top of the hiring range, as doing so limits opportunities for future salary growth. Innergex also offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
