Hiring Requirements:

The Operations Manager at the Langley Bypass is responsible for driving in a safe way, operational excellence, ensuring food safety, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. This role is critical in delivering high-quality products that meet customer expectations while upholding Grupo Bimbo's global standards for safety, quality, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Leadership:
    • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act, Grupo Bimbo Global Safety Standards, and local regulations.
    • Manage and reinforce in a proactive way safety programs and maintain an exemplary safety record.
    • Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation through safety observations, audits, investigations, and action plan execution.
  • Food Safety & Quality Assurance:
    • Adhere to Grupo Bimbo's Global Food Safety and Quality standards, GMPs, and sanitation protocols.
    • Drive zero-defect culture through process control, standard work, root cause analysis, and corrective actions and ensure compliance with audits and certifications.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Lead the operational and cultural transformation of the facility by establishing high-performance standards, reinforcing accountability, and driving sustainable results improvement.
    • Create a culture where safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement are owned by every associate every day.
    • Develop frontline leaders capable of coaching, problem-solving, and holding teams accountable to standards.
    • Achieve production targets through efficient resource management and waste reduction. Utilize performance metrics and data analytics to identify trends, prioritize opportunities, and deliver sustainable results.
    • Support the implementation of continuous improvement programs (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, Kaizen) to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • People Development & Engagement:
    • Lead and mentor production supervisors and hourly associates, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. Promote Grupo Bimbo's Golden Rule: Respect, Fairness, Trust and Care.
  • Union & Associate Relations:
    • Maintain positive labour relations and ensure compliance with the collective agreement. Encourage open communication and engagement to build trust and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Sanitation teams among others to ensure seamless operations. Support asset management initiatives, including preventive maintenance and reliability programs.
Experience & Education:
  • Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Formal technical baking education (e.g., AIB Certification) is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMPs, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Minimum 5+ years of management and supervisory experience (unionized manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Success in this role will be defined not only by operational results, but also by the development of leadership capability, associate engagement, and the establishment of a sustainable culture of ownership.
  • Proven track record in food processing or related industries, with emphasis on high-volume production.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Superior communication skills to thrive in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong leadership presence with ability to develop and mentor talent for succession planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, make sound decisions, and manage complex operational challenges.

The annual salary range for applicants is: $90,000 - $135,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other factors.
