A Snapshot of Your Day Join our team as an Operational Improvement Senior Technical Expert and play a crucial role in optimizing outage costs! In this position, you will serve as a senior technical authority, leveraging your deep field execution expertise and operational data to identify, prioritize, and eliminate avoidable operational costs during service outages. You will collaborate cross-functionally to reduce labor, tooling, material, logistics, and rework costs while ensuring safety, quality, and schedule performance are maintained. By leading the development and deployment of standardized, repeatable cost-optimization solutions across the outage lifecycle, you will influence operational leaders and establish sustainable practices that enhance execution consistency and financial performance.
How You'll Make an Impact - Lead the identification and prioritization of structural outage-cost drivers and sources of cost variability throughout planning, execution, and closeout phases.
- Perform root cause analysis on cost overruns and recurring execution inefficiencies, translating findings into scalable corrective actions.
- Define and support standardized outage practices, including tooling, staffing models, sequencing, and work scopes.
- Translate field experience and data insights into operational improvements with clearly quantified savings and performance impacts.
- Engage directly with field teams to capture practical improvement opportunities and support the implementation of cost reduction initiatives.
What You Bring - 8+ years of relevant technical experience, with substantial direct involvement in power-generation field service, outage execution, or a comparable complex service environment, complemented by a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Demonstrate expertise in Operational Improvement, Continuous Improvement, or Project Controls, with a focus on outage estimating, labor productivity, tooling strategy, staffing, logistics, work-scope optimization, or rework reduction, along with Lean/Six Sigma or similar improvement training.
- Proven experience in reducing operational costs in complex field environments.
- Advanced understanding of outage planning, mobilization, execution, demobilization, and closeout workflows.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to effectively present complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences while fostering excellent cross-functional collaboration.
