Why This Role Is Critical

The Operational Excellence (OPEX) & Lean Six Sigma Black Belt role is responsible for leading high-impact improvement initiatives that eliminate waste, reduce process variability, and enhance business performance across the organization. Operating with a strategic mindset, this role leverages advanced analytical techniques, Lean methodologies, and Six Sigma tools to drive measurable results. The Black Belt partners with Master Black Belts, Process Owners, and cross-functional teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer value.

What You'll Do Day-To-Day

  • Lead and manage Lean Six Sigma (LSS) projects across multiple functions, applying DMAIC, DMADV, Kaizen, and other methodologies to achieve measurable efficiency and quality improvements.
    • Identify high-impact opportunities using data-driven analysis and connect improvement activities to strategic business objectives.
    • Facilitate value stream mapping, Kaizen events, and root-cause problem-solving workshops, guiding teams through process redesign and optimization.
    • Coach Process Owners, Champions, and project teams on Lean principles, Six Sigma tools, and change management practices.
    • Act as a change agent by modeling Lean behaviors, building trust, and inspiring adoption of new ways of working across all levels of the organization.
    • Develop and maintain performance metrics, dashboards, and communication tools to measure and share project progress and outcomes.
    • Partner with business leaders to ensure continuous improvement initiatives are aligned with customer needs (VOC) and deliver enhanced quality, timeliness, cost efficiency, and user experience.

Develop and mentor yellow and green belts.
• Manage complex, high-visibility projects and collaborate across sectors to drive enterprise-wide operational excellence.
• Manage multiple high-complexity projects simultaneously using disciplined project management approaches.

Strategic & Analytical Strengths

Lean & Six Sigma Expertise
• Deep knowledge of Lean principles: waste elimination, flow optimization, standardization.
• Proficiency in Six Sigma methodologies eg.;: DMAIC, DFSS/DMADV, Kaizen, Work-Out.

• Inspires teams to adopt new ways of working without resistance or disruption.

Skilled in engaging and influencing groups unfamiliar or hesitant about continuous improvement.
• Strong communication abilities across executive leadership and frontline employees; able to make technical concepts accessible.

What You'll Bring

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
      • Completion of Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training and projects is required.

    Role Requirements & Work Conditions
    • Office-based role and travel as needed.
      • Must be able to remain stationary, walk, kneel, and crouch; operate a computer continuously; and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
      • Excellent communicator, facilitator, hands on, and results-driven professional.


Total Rewards Package

  • Salary: 98,000-128,000 CAD, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
