Position Overview
Role
The role of the Ontario Land Surveyor (OLS) is to primarily check and sign plans and will report to the Quality Control Team Lead. The OLS will also help share learning opportunities with the Field and Drafting Team Leads to help ensure the standards of all Legal plans at IBW are maintained while mentoring junior staff.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide regulatory oversight of all cadastral survey products
- Check and sign cadastral surveys
- Help develop cadastral knowledge of all staff
Responsibilities
- Maintain your Ontario Land Surveyor (Cadastral) designation in good standing
- Competently and thoroughly perform boundary calculations for the legal aspect of projects
- Competently and thoroughly perform plan checking for legal plans
- Sign and professionally certify legal survey plans digitally across regional office boundaries.
- Provide professional feedback and recommendations to research, field, calculation, and drafting production staff members
- Provide professional feedback and recommendations to colleagues with similar professional qualifications
- Provide professional feedback and recommendations to management regarding workflow processes to correct potential systematic workflow issues
- Other duties as required
Additional Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- Knowledge of general industries that relate to surveying: building, planning, engineering, underground utilities, etc.
- Knowledge of key markets, local/broad market trends that could translate to new opportunities.
- Prior experience in client management and expanding reach in key market segments.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $60 - $80/hr. Comprehensive health and dental benefits, RRSP with employer matched contributions, training & development, and educational assistance is provided.
