Lee Health is seeking a Medical Director of our Comprehensive Obesity Program!

Lee Health is a nonprofit organization with more than 17,000 employees, 4,500 volunteers, and more than 1,200 employed primary care and specialty care providers with multiple practice locations throughout Southwest Florida. The organization has four acute care hospitals and one specialty hospital that together house over 1,800 hospital beds.

Position Information:

The Center for Care Transformation, our Value based care department, is seeking a fellowship trained Obesity physician for a clinical role and a Medical Directorship for our Comprehensive Obesity Program. This physician leader will provide clinical, administrative, and strategic oversight for a multidisciplinary, evidence-based obesity medicine program focused on medical weight management, lifestyle medicine, anti-obesity pharmacotherapy, in addition to coordination with bariatric surgery offerings for our employees. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with our leaders and physicians of our employed medical group and independent physicians who may refer patients to the program. This physician will lead a collaborative team of physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, registered dietitians, behavioral health specialists, and support staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include clinical care while opening the first clinic, triaging patients into different pathways, coordinating referrals, and interpreting data, setting benchmarks, and working on improvement for the program. Providing Close collaboration with our pharmacy colleagues and educators to assure the safe and effective use of anti-obesity medications including GLP-1 therapies, ensuring compliance with national clinical guidelines and accreditation standards, and supporting program growth and community outreach initiatives. This position includes direct patient care focused on obesity medicine and metabolic health. Candidates must be willing to provide obesity care and refer the patients back to their primary care physicians for ongoing care. The program goal is Monday to Friday practice but may start with a combination of onsite and virtual hours. The Medical Director will also play a key role in provider recruitment, education, mentorship, quality improvement initiatives, and strategic planning.in order to grow the practice and expand services to different populations of patients.
