The Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences (OEMS) in Florida Tech’s College of Engineering and Science invites applications for the Doherty Visiting Professorship in the Spring Semester 2027. The endowment to OEMS from the Henry L. and Grace Doherty Charitable Foundation, Inc., provides funding for the appointment.
Our focus is to integrate science, engineering, and management in the marine environment. OEMS offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in ocean engineering, oceanography, meteorology, environmental science and sustainability, environmental resource management, marine biology and ecology, and conservation biology.
We seek an established professional from academia, government, or industry with an advanced degree in ocean engineering or ocean science and a clear vision for her/his time at the University. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute through a combination of teaching in the Ocean Engineering program, research, and student engagement, with specific responsibilities negotiated at the time of appointment.
Applicants should upload a statement of interest not exceeding two pages in length, a two-page curriculum vitae, and a cover letter including contact information for three references to the FIT job portal. The documents should also be sent to Dr. Steven M. Lazarus, Professor, Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences, Florida Institute of Technology, at slazarus@fit.edu.
Our team will look into this right away.
