Full Job Description
The Occupational Therapist I job conducts evaluations on referred patients. To plan and implement a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up or continued care. This position documents results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines.

The Occupational Therapist I job participates as a member of a self-directed departmental team as well as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team. This role provides clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed. This role also provides training and education to department and hospital staff.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation. Maintenance of licensure once granted. Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area

Experience REQUIRED:
New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist
**Employee is expected to progress to an Occupational Therapist Clinician II level within two years of employment as an Occupational Therapist at VCUHS

Experience PREFERRED:
Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility

Education/training REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy

Education/training PREFERRED:
Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy

Independent action(s) required:
Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses. Setting schedule and managing time. Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds. Goal setting for routine diagnoses. Completion of routine documentation. Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team. Customer interaction.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Occupational Therapist provides supervision for Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.

Additional position requirements:
Cross-coverage to other treatment teams as needed. Progress to Clinician II status within 2 years of employment. Saturday/holiday coverage on a rotating basis and flexibility in work hours as needed to accommodate departmental needs as applicable.

Compensation Grade Range: $70,928.00 - $106,433.60
Actual salary offers will be based on several key factors to include relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
