GENERAL SUMMARY The Nurse Scientist advances evidence-based practice and research initiatives within the Emergency Nurses Association through high-impact research, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and engagement with the global emergency nursing community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Identifies emerging trends and opportunities in emergency nursing research.
- Coordinates high-impact research initiatives focused on improving emergency nursing practices.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates research projects, ensuring adherence to methodological rigor and ethical standards.
- Contributes to the development of strategic plans that align research initiatives with the association's long-term goals.
- Collaborates with the internal and external teams to integrate research findings into practice resources and educational offerings.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, industry partners, and governmental bodies to advance shared research objectives.
- Serves as a scientific advisor to the association's members and ENA staff.
- Disseminates research insights through conferences, publications, and educational platforms.
- Supports mentoring and staff development within the research team and ENA.
- Contributes to the workplace culture that is consistent with the association's culture statement and emphasizes the mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Displays a high level of accountability, taking responsibility for individual actions and the impact on the organization. Views oneself as a reflection of the organization by following through on commitments and accepting ownership.
- Performs additional related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Required:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse
- Doctorate (PhD, DNP, or equivalent) in Nursing Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in critical care nursing, including conducting and coordinating research initiatives.
- Demonstrated competence with quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies.
- Record of published research and active participation in scientific forums or conferences.
Desired:
- Experience with, or demonstrated interest in, developing grant proposals and securing external research funding.
- Experience with implementation science or implementation research.
- Experience conducting multi-site research studies.
- Prior engagement in international research collaborations.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or guide emerging researchers.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThis position is a salaried/exempt position. The targeted salary range is $95k - $115k annually. Compensation is determined based on a range of factors, including experience, education, certifications or specialized training, skill level and operational needs.
