Summary of PositionNurse Practitioners provide medical services in collaboration with a physician, for patients in primary care as well as in medical and surgical specialty areas.
Principal Accountabilities- Obtains and documents patient history as appropriate to chief complaint or reason for visit.
- Conducts relevant physical exam and evaluates patient, documenting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Diagnoses and treats disease and manages chronic illness.
- Prescribes medication in accordance with New York State and federal law.
- Orders appropriate laboratory, radiological and special examinations or tests; interprets results
- Provides preventative health services, including health education and counseling.
- Collaborates with other clinicians and staff members to ensure continuity of care of patients.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
QualificationsEducation, Training, Licenses, Certifications- Bachelor's Degree (R)
- Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner education program registered by the NYS Education Department (R)
- Master's Degree (R)
- Licensed and currently registered as a Registered Nurse by NYS
- Current New York State Registration as Nurse Practitioner
- Current Board Certification as an NP from a NYS approved accrediting body
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- 1-3 years of related experience (P)
- Experience working with diverse populations in an ambulatory healthcare setting. (P)
- BLS (R)
- ACLS strongly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (R)
