Job Requirements

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Medical Director Critical Care Services, the Critical Care Physician Assistant will assist attending ICU physicians in all aspects of general hospital care for critical care patients. All work will be performed in close collaboration with attending physicians responsible for the patient. The Critical Care PA will be credentialed through the Maryland Board as well as the health system to provide advanced clinical procedures, including central lines, chest tub insertion, intubations, etc.

Work Experience

Education & Training: Physician Assistant with appropriate licensure and credentialing to practice under the supervision of a physician in the state of Maryland.

Credentialing through the Maryland Board as well as the health system in the provision of advanced practice skills.

Work Orientation & Experience: A minimum of five years' experience as a midlevel provider in an acute care setting; full-time clinical role at UCH.

Skills & Abilities: Ability to (a) handle multiple priorities; (b) work independently, (c) take initiative in achieving expected results, and (d) handle confidential information. Demonstrated skill in: (a) making effective decisions, (b) quality improvement activity (c) problem-solving, (d) crisis management, (e) organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, (f) attention to detail and follow through, (g) effective negotiation, (h) resource management, (i) ability to work successfully with diverse types of individuals including management, staff and the general public.
