Nurse Practitioner - CaliforniaPosition Overview The Nurse Practitioner provides high-quality, patient-centered clinical care in an outpatient family practice/internal medicine clinic. Responsible for examining patients, managing acute and chronic conditions, conducting routine procedures, and ensuring efficient patient flow across all age groups, this role collaborates closely with support staff to deliver comprehensive medical care.
Responsibilities - Patient Volume: Manage an active clinical schedule, efficiently diagnosing, treating, and managing an average of 18-25 patients per day across all age groups.
- Clinic Flow & Efficiency: Maintain a high standard of clinical throughput, managing patient encounters effectively to ensure timely care without compromising quality or patient satisfaction.
- Clinical Care & Disease Management: Perform comprehensive physical exams, Annual Wellness exams, order and interpret diagnostic test results, formulate differential diagnoses, and manage acute illness as well as chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, asthma).
- Prescriptive Authority & Referrals: Manage prescription therapies and refills safely, manage in-basket messages related to patient care, order necessary laboratory/imaging studies, and coordinate specialist referrals or clinical follow-ups.
- Post-Discharge Care: Complete post-hospital discharge visits to support continuity of care.
- Procedures & In-Office Interventions: Perform routine primary care procedures (e.g., minor skin procedures, joint injections, simple laceration repairs, pap smears) and oversee clinical support staff during minor office interventions.
- Interprofessional Collaboration: Partner closely with attending physicians, fellow advanced practice providers, medical assistants (1:1 support), and administrative staff to deliver coordinated care.
- EMR Utilization & Charting: Maintain precise, timely, and complete clinical documentation within Epic Systems in accordance with billing, coding, and quality guidelines.
Required Qualifications - Education: Satisfactory completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner training program.
- Licensure: Current, active, and unencumbered license in the State of California as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Certifications: Board Eligible or Board Certified (FNP/AGNP); current BLS/CPR certification; active DEA registration.
- Clinical Proficiency: Expertise in advanced health assessment, diagnostic reasoning, pharmacology, preventative medicine, and routine outpatient procedures across all age groups.
- System Familiarity: Proficiency in EMR documentation (Epic Systems preferred).
- Credentialing: Ability to clear background screening and drug testing prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications - Minimum of one (1) year of post-licensure clinical experience in a primary care, family practice, or internal medicine clinic setting.
Schedule - Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (Variable shift start/end times depending on clinic needs)
- Potential travel/floating between clinic locations if required.
Compensation - Competitive pay rate, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
