Position SummaryThe Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients presenting to the emergency department. Working collaboratively with the emergency physicians and healthcare team, the NP delivers high-quality, evidence-based care while promoting positive patient outcomes and exceptional customer service.
QualificationsRequired- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program (Master's Degree or higher)
- Current Mississippi Nurse Practitioner license (Family, Adult, or Acute Care NP)
- Prescriptive authority through the Mississippi Board of Nursing
- Current DEA registration
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Telemed certification
- Minimum two (2) years of Emergency Department experience
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
Preferred- Previous Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner experience
- Experience practicing in a rural healthcare setting
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform emergency department assessments and management of assigned patients.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and other therapies within scope of practice.
- Coordinate patient care and referrals as appropriate.
- Collaborate effectively with emergency physicians, hospitalists, nursing staff, and ancillary departments.
- Communicate patient conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions clearly to patients and families.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department performance activities.
- Attend required staff meetings, continuing education programs, and competency training.
- Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and infection prevention standards.
- Conduct clinical rounding and monitor patient progress throughout treatment.
- Support a positive team environment and adapt to departmental changes and needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
