Job Summary and Qualifications

The Manager ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

  • You will coordinate and integrate services within your department and with other departments.
  • You will develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • You will recommend a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care.
  • You will determine the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.
  • You will continuously assess and improve department and the organization's performance.
  • You will maintain appropriate quality control programs.
  • You will provide for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department.
  • You will oversee and review the development of monthly schedules.
  • You will collaborate with the Nursing Supervisor and the Chief Nurse Executive or their designee regarding staffing issues.
  • You will review, approve and complete employee timesheets.
  • You will assure that at least six unit specific staff meetings are held annually and that communication with staff is interactive and information provided reflects organizational activities at all levels.(Patient Care Council, Nurse Executive Committee, Department Director's Meeting)Minutes are written in accepted format and maintained on the unit.


What qualifications you will need:

  • 2 years of experience as a Staff Nurse in specialty area of unit
  • Previous Charge Nurse experience, Leadership and Management experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Registered Nurse
  • Bachelors Degree

The facility is affiliated with the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, providing advanced robotic capabilities for orthopedics, open heart and lung procedures, complex GI surgery, surgical oncology, general and colorectal surgery, and urology. It was also among the first hospitals in Central Texas to integrate CT imaging with robotics for early lung cancer detection.
