Nurse Manager- Operating Room - Full Time - Jackson

Full-Time Leadership Benefit Eligible, Salaried Position

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse Manager - Operating Room is responsible for leading the daily operations of Henry Ford Jackson Hospital's Main OR and CVOR, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. In this role, you'll oversee the day-to-day clinical and operational functions of a busy surgical department that performs more than 11,500 procedures each year and supports a Level II Trauma Center. You'll work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing leaders to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality care while supporting the growth and development of a team of more than 75 perioperative professionals, including Registered Nurses, Surgical Technologists, First Assists, Equipment Technicians, and Nursing Assistants. The department includes 11 operating rooms, a hybrid OR, cystoscopy and GI procedure areas, and provides care across a wide range of surgical specialties, including trauma and cardiovascular services.

Preferred Experience

We are seeking candidates with prior Operating Room leadership experience and a strong clinical background in perioperative services. Ideal candidates will have 2-5 years of experience as an OR Circulating RN, experience leading teams in a surgical setting, and a proven ability to support staff development, operational efficiency, and quality outcomes. CNOR certification is preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Administrative accountability for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating all aspects of patient care. Manages and collaborates relationships with leadership members, physicians, for the care of responsible patient populations. Assures professional, clinical, and educational excellence in the provision of quality care to patients. Facilitates empowerment of staff in the implementation of creative and innovative patient care delivery models and stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services. Assumes responsibility for fiscal management of the unit.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required.
• Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Management or other related field preferred.
• ANCC recognized nursing specialty certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting required.
• Demonstration of progressive nursing leadership in roles for example Charge Nurse, Assistant Clinical Manager, House Manager, Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Unit Leader and Chairperson of a Shared Governance Council/Committee or interdisciplinary team (not limited to these examples).
• Knowledge of quality management and service excellence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills that provide coaching and facilitation expertise.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrates innovative, creative leadership style.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES:
• Current license to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
• BCLS/ACLS certification as required per unit standards.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions are variable with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards. Driving may be required dependent on specialty. Frequent walking, bending, and lifting may be required to perform duties.
