Responsibilities

The Nuclear Medical Technologist is responsible for inspecting monitors and documents all Radioisotopes from receipt to disposal, daily administration of radio-pharmaceutical. Perform various Nuclear Imagine procedures. Discuss procedures with radiologists regarding appropriateness. Inspects monitors and documents all isotopes received as per Department Policy. Disposes of decayed isotopes per Departmental Policy, CDC and OSHA guidelines. Performs all equipment quality control such as daily floods, weekly bar phantom, daily calibrations, maintain pertinent logs as per policy. Prepares patient for procedures; provides necessary instructions, teaching and emotional support; obtain procedural consent. Review physician order for proper indicators and insures all the necessary information is available for the radiologist. Follows appropriate aseptic technique as well as safe handling of radioisotopes while preparing the patients dosage. Performs venipuncture per policy. Performs all imaging procedures on all gamma cameras in Nuclear Medicine. Develops inspects and label images for Radiologist review. Maintains safe environment for patients and staff in regarding radiation safety. Handle problems that may arise from patients comfort to complaints. Discuss case with radiologists and referring position.

Qualifications

Graduate of Nuclear Medicine Technology. Certification or eligible in Nuclear Medicine Technology with 1 year experience. Manual dexterity for manipulating function of equipment required. Excellent communication and customer service skills required. Proficient in the use of Meditech. (RIS)/ Teleradiology system.
