Work Location: Aiken, SCPosition DescriptionThis position will provide broad technical support to nuclear Engineering Programs, with particular emphasis on Configuration Management, System Health, engineering procedures and standards, requirements management, assessments, corrective actions, and engineering process improvement.
The selected candidate will work across engineering and facility organizations and should understand how nuclear facility design requirements are maintained throughout the facility lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Support Configuration Management and System Health programs in accordance with applicable DOE requirements, including DOE O 420.1D and DOE-STD-[redacted].
- Serve as a technical resource or SME for engineering program activities.
- Develop, revise, and review engineering procedures, standards, training materials, and related technical documentation.
- Support engineering requirements identification and flowdown.
- Participate in self-assessments, corrective actions, causal analyses, and engineering program evaluations.
- Represent Engineering in technical and management review activities as assigned.
- Perform facility walkdowns in support of engineering and configuration-management activities.
- Support engineering performance monitoring, status reporting, and program metrics/KPIs.
- Identify and implement engineering process improvements and optimization opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with Design Authorities, System Engineers, facility engineering, operations, maintenance, and other organizations.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of nuclear experience.
- At least 3 years performing nuclear facility design and/or serving in a nuclear facility Design Authority-type role, such as Cognizant Engineer, System Engineer, Shift Technical Engineer, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications- Significant Savannah River Site engineering experience, particularly Liquid Waste.
- Working knowledge of DOE directives and technical standards, national consensus codes and standards, configuration management, requirements flowdown, and nuclear engineering processes.
- Experience with System Health or Configuration Management programs.
- Experience performing assessments, causal analysis, and corrective-action activities.
- Experience developing engineering procedures, standards, or training documentation.
- Experience leading or participating on cross-functional technical teams.
- Ability to perform facility walkdowns.
- Engineering process-improvement experience.
- Local to the Aiken/SRS area or able to work onsite as required.
