Overview of Position

The Integrated System Test team develops complex, large-scale electro-mechanical systems and brings them to market quickly, requiring agility across all New Product Introduction (NPI) team members.

The Material Planning Manager is responsible for leading the planning team in balancing speed-to-market with production readiness. This role sets the direction for planning best practices, drives operational efficiency, and develops team capability and career growth.

The planning team manages supply base strategy, material alignment and availability, production build planning, product change implementation, and transfer to contract manufacturing

The ideal candidate will have experience managing NPI planning teams or serving as a senior electro-mechanical product planner, with a strong background in supply chain, materials, and production planning.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing planning team, including coaching and career development
  • Establish and standardize best practices across NPI planning processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Define global sourcing strategies in collaboration with suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Oversee supplier engagement, including quotation management for prototype and production builds
  • Develop strategies for transitioning planning responsibilities to contract manufacturing partners
  • Establish guidelines for material planning, procurement, and inventory management
  • Identify and resolve critical material shortages impacting new product introduction
  • Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), rework processes, and defective material strategies
  • Ensure successful execution of production builds, including work order releases, build progress tracking, and scrap and excess inventory management
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support manufacturing readiness and execution
  • Develop lead time models and product lifecycle planning templates
  • Recommend risk-buy strategies and demand forecasts
  • Drive data-based planning decisions to improve efficiency and reduce supply risk


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8+ years of experience working with electro-mechanical products
  • Proven experience in supply chain, materials, and production planning
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, agile environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills at all organizational levels
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems for planning and procurement
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
  • Familiarity with presentation and database tools preferred
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to identify issues early and escalate appropriately
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and change management capability
  • Collaborative, flexible team player with a results-oriented mindset
  • Occasional travel (~10%) to Asia-based contract manufacturers


This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $117,200-$187,600. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
