Position Overview:As our Neutronics Analysis Engineer, you will be part of a high-performing, innovative, and multi-disciplinary team that assists with the development of innovative nuclear reactors and related systems. The selected candidate must have a background and knowledge in neutronic calculations, cross section data, simulation tools and an understanding of how to apply neutronics experimental data to the improvement and qualification of analysis methods and tools.
Location: Onsite in Lynchburg, Virginia at the Advanced Technologies Office.
Your Day to Day as a Neutronics Analysis Engineer: - Perform analysis of experimental configurations that can be used to reduce uncertainty and improve analysis tools and methods.
- Coordinate between R&D teams, engineering design and analysis teams, and experimental groups (as applicable).
- Perform work on a broad scope of studies, from experimental planning to data processing, to impacts on reactor designs.
- Work in a neutronics design team contributing to a variety of projects.
Required Qualifications: - A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, nuclear or similar discipline) is required.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in neutronics.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to write and deliver high quality technical reports and documentation, including presentations to customers, regulators, and other organizations.
- Must be familiar with Monte Carlo tools such as MCNP, OpenMC or Serpent and/or deterministic tools such as SCALE.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
Preferred Qualifications: - PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Science, or equivalent is preferred.
- Familiarity with Monte Carlo tools such as MCNP, OpenMC or Serpent and/or experience with deterministic nodal methods such as SIMULATE or PARCS.
- Familiarity with cross section processing tools and methods, experimental methods and data, qualification of analysis tools.
- Familiarity with critical experiment design, setup, and/or execution.
- Familiarity with programming languages and tools, including Python, C++, C# in a Linux environment.

Pay: $79,000.00 - $119,000.00
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $79,000.00 and $119,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
