What You'll DoThe Network Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of Soluna's networks and ensure maximum uptime while continuously improving resiliency, security and maintainability. This role will include designing, documenting and increasing the security of new and existing networks. This role will be responsible for life cycle management, change control processes, new deployments, network traffic analysis, and maintenance of existing networks. This role will require periodic travel to Soluna facilities for network maintenance, upgrades, and initial standup.

The Network Engineer will work as part of the Engineering organization and work closely with Engineering, Product, Operations, and IT. Our ideal candidate is self-directed, obsessed with attention to detail, works well in cross functional teams and driven to find the proven root cause of an issue. This role will report directly to the VP, Engineering.
You will:
- Work with the Network Architect to design and implement new network solutions and improve the efficiency of current networks
- Install, configure, and support network equipment including firewalls, switches, VLANs, DNS and DHCP servers
- Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
- Improve network monitoring and alerting at all sites
- Investigate faults in the network and generate a root cause analysis report after resolution
- Maintain all network equipment at the latest versions and patches
- Identify and raise critical issues in a timely manner to stakeholders
- Collaborate with System Administrator to maintain networking systems
What You Need to Get the Job Done- Familiarity with both copper and fiber connections
- Comprehensive understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, multicast, spanning tree, VRRP, and OSPF
- Comprehensive knowledge of multiple DHCP servers such as DHCPd, DHCP failover, and the DHCP option 82 schema
- Familiarity with pfSense and Fortinet firewalls including VPNs, IPsec tunnels, and policies
- Familiarity with Juniper, Buffalo, and TP-link layer 3 managed switches
- Experience using or implementing network tools like Netflow, IPFIX, and SNMP.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor, analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating reliably
- Experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting Wi-Fi/WLAN and security infrastructure
- 5+ years of experience as a network engineer in a corporate environment or datacenter
- Willingness to travel up 25% and potentially on short notice
- Certifications a bonus, but not required
