OverviewChenega Professional & Technical Services, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for a Network Engineer II who provides operational support, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting for enterprise network infrastructure supporting the Department of the Interior (DOI) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
This role is responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and high-performing Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), VPN connectivity, network security devices, and supporting infrastructure across geographically dispersed data centers and customer environments.
Responsibilities
- Configure, administer, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, and VPN infrastructure supporting federal government customers.
- Support routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, SSL appliances, and remote access technologies.
- Maintain site-to-site and client VPN connectivity while ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
- Analyze network performance, diagnose connectivity issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Support network security initiatives including firewall administration, intrusion detection, vulnerability remediation, and audit support.
- Monitor network infrastructure utilizing enterprise monitoring and performance management tools.
- Assist with implementation of network upgrades, technology refreshes, hardware replacements, and architectural enhancements.
- Create and maintain network diagrams, operating procedures, configuration documentation, and technical reports.
- Support incident, problem, and change management processes using ITIL best practices and ticketing systems.
- Coordinate with telecommunications providers, vendors, and internal technical teams to resolve service disruptions and support new implementations.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, patching activities, and occasional after-hours support rotations.
- Assist with disaster recovery planning, testing, and continuity of operations activities.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
- CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Experience supporting federal government IT environments.
- Experience supporting Palo Alto GlobalProtect
- Experience configuring and supporting Fortigate
- Familiarity with NIST, STIG, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud networking.
- Experience supporting load balancers, SSL offloading technologies, and network monitoring tools.
- Successfully pass background and drug screening
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking concepts including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
- Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Knowledge of network security principles, access controls, firewall policies, intrusion detection/prevention, and vulnerability remediation.
- Ability to analyze network performance, identify root causes of connectivity issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Experience with network monitoring, incident management, change management, and IT service management processes.
- Strong technical documentation skills, including development of network diagrams, procedures, and configuration standards.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams and provide customer-focused support.
