SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center Neonatology team is seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our collaborative team. This role provides an excellent opportunity to practice in a Level II NICU with additional responsibilities in the well-baby nursery and delivery room.

The NNP will manage and coordinate overnight care for NICU patients, working both independently and collaboratively with attending physicians, peers, and members of the multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality care to critically ill and newborn patients.

An in-house Respiratory Therapist is available for all deliveries, and a backup Neonatologist is available overnight for consultation. The unit averages 1,000-1,500 deliveries per year.

Following a structured orientation period, the NNP will be credentialed to practice independently within the scope of Neonatology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of employment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
  • NICU critical care experience
  • Two (2) years of experience within Nurse Practitioner licensure
  • Neonatology Nurse Practitioner degree
