POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for helping to guide the design of recreational sport and fishing watercraft. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all watercraft designs meet performance goals and comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work closely with WRMG New Product Development Brand Managers, Industrial Designers, Marine Engineers, and Compliance Staff to ensure proper scantling development and performance for a wide range of aluminum and fiberglass watercraft.
- In-depth knowledge of design and regulatory guidelines including: ISO, DNV, GL, ABS, ABYC, CE and USCG.
- Provide expertise in weight analysis and CG prediction, hull form development, waterline prediction, hydrostatics, speed prediction, propulsion, resistance estimates and stability analysis.
- Provide expertise in simulation driven design optimization via Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI).
- Provide expertise in raw material selection and usage in composite structural design and manufacturing operations.
- Plan and execute verification and validation testing programs through the WRMG Engineering Laboratory and outside entities.
- Provide professional support for dealerships and customers
- All Other Duties As Assigned
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or higher in Naval Architecture with current PE License in Naval Architecture.
- B.S or higher in Mechanical/Marine Engineering with relevant marine design experience and current PE License in Naval Architecture will also be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as practicing Naval Architect in recreational marine industry.
- Previous experience with hydrostatic analysis software (Rhino/Orca3D preferred).
- Previous experience with CAD and FEA of marine structures (CATIA/SIMULIA preferred).
- Previous experience with CFD analysis of high-speed planing watercraft.
- Previous experience and familiarity with marine composite manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail. Excellent written and communications skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and statistical analysis software.

- Boating enthusiast with at least 10 years of experience owning and operating watercraft.
- Strong desire to advance the state of the art in recreational watercraft design.
- Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously.
