Role description:Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Due Diligence (EDD) National Technical Expert (Environmental Scientist, Environmental Engineer, or Environmental or Health & Safety area disciplines) to support regional, national, and international EDD projects and programs, including project and portfolio management and client relationship support.
As part of our Resilience Environment team, you'll help improve quality of life. With your expertise as a skilled Environmental Professional in the EDD realm, you will work closely with Arcadis' established EDD Community of Practice (CoP) by supporting the production of high-quality Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I ESAs) in accordance with the ASTM International (ASTM) Designation: E1527-21 Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process (ASTM E1527-21), as well as supporting associated projects such as limited compliance evaluations and planning Phase II ESAs.
Role accountabilities:In this role, your responsibilities will involve working with the EDD community of practice (COP) on an as needed basis to support and Phase I ESA portfolios and associated projects, including limited compliance assessments (LCA), environmental risk assessments, Phase II ESA planning, and other EDD evaluations in support of client mergers and acquisitions. As an EDD National Technical Expert, you will be responsible for assisting the EDD CoP with high level aspects of the EDD CoP with needs such as : evaluating opportunities, developing an appropriate scope of work, and preparing proposals; preparing or reviewing reports and deliverables; and coordinating and conducting the necessary review of project documents with colleagues, client representatives, contractors and others required to work as a team on EDD projects. You will be an important supporting member of the EDD CoP and likely interacting with other senior technical experts and project managers as part of an interdisciplinary environmental team.
The successful candidate will thoroughly understand the ASTM International (ASTM) Designation: E1527-21 Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process (ASTM E1527-21) and qualify as an Environmental Professional as defined by the Standard. This individual will become a core senior support member of Arcadis' established EDD Community of Practice (CoP), supporting senior leaders on an as-needed basis. Leveraging extensive experience and strong technical skills, the successful candidate will both prepare and provide senior review of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and other Environmental Due Diligence (EDD) deliverables while acting as an Environmental Professional.
The role involves preparing proposals and delivering EDD projects, working closely with clients and Arcadis colleagues. The successful candidate will provide senior review and support for Phase I ESA projects and portfolios and may lead large EDD portfolio projects where required. Responsibilities also include reviewing and evaluating complex regulatory permits and associated documentation, assessing the environmental or health and safety regulatory compliance status of operating facilities, identifying compliance gaps, and recommending corrective actions.
In addition, the successful candidate will support environmental and health and safety compliance policies, programs, procedures, and management systems. Travel may be requested but is not required.
Candidates must have a good driving record and be prepared to work outside in potentially inclement weather conditions. Work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous waste, and at facilities with manufacturing activities that are proprietary. Work may also be conducted at locations where discretion and exceptional professional demeanor is required, due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the Phase I ESA process.
Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or closely related field
- 20+ years' relevant experience conducting Phase I ESAs, including project and portfolio management and team development.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations including but not limited to: Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA); Brownfields Amendments; Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-know Act (EPCRA), the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Rule (SPCC), and state and local storage tank regulations.

- Valid driver's license
- Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental/Civil Engineering, EHS Management, or a related discipline
- Contractor management experience
- Project management experience of multi-site and/or global EDD projects

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $148,000-223,200. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
