LOCATION: Huntsville, AL; Arlington, VA; Melbourne, FL; Colorado Springs, CO

JOB STATUS:Full-time

TRAVEL:Less than 5%

SALARY RANGE: $94K - $150K (Final Compensation to be determined based on location and experience)

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Security Specialist to be responsible for Astrion27s cleared employee's security lifecycle while ensuring eligibility, access, reporting, documentation, and security education requirements remain compliant with NISP and organizational requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor27s degree with 6-8 years of experience.
  • Must understand and implement 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) and applicable DCSA requirements.
  • Experience in supporting U.S. Government clients.
  • Experience with Personnel Security on and off-boarding
  • Must have experience in maintaining the Government System of Record (GSOR) database
  • Experience with Security Business Integrated Management Systems (i.e., Sign-In-Compliance, Sign-In Enterprise, SIMS, etc.)
  • U.S. citizenship with active TS/SCI eligibility and the ability to maintain such eligibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Proficiency with DISS, NBIS, NISS, and related personnel/industrial security systems.
  • Proficiency with DD Form 254 requirements and classified contracts/subcontracts.
  • Knowledge of classified information handling, safeguarding, storage, transmission, destruction, and incident reporting requirements.
  • Vulnerability assessment and remediation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train employees and advise program leadership.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, discretion, and records-management skills.
  • Prior experience as a, security specialist, or industrial security professional in the defense/aerospace/government-contracting environment.
  • Professional certifications such as ISP (Industrial Security Professional) or relevant CDSE training/certifications are a plus.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • NISP Compliance & Program Management: 6 Oversee the day-to-day administration of the facility27s industrial security program; interpret and implement 32 CFR Part 117, contract security requirements, DCSA guidance, and applicable government security policies and guidelines.
  • Clearance Processing: Initiate, review, and track personnel security investigations and clearance actions through applicable government systems such as DISS and NBIS/eApp. Assist personnel with completing required forms and resolve deficiencies that could delay processing.
  • Eligibility and Access Management: Verify security clearance eligibility and ensure individuals receive access only at the level required for their duties. Process access requests, indoctrinations, upgrades, downgrades, and removals as appropriate.
  • DISS/NBIS Administration: Maintain accurate personnel records, submit required actions, monitor investigation and adjudication status, and resolve discrepancies in government personnel-security systems.
  • Security Briefings and Debriefings: Conduct initial, refresher, special-purpose, and termination security briefings. Ensure cleared personnel understand their continuing responsibilities for protecting classified information.
  • Continuous Vetting Support: Support personnel enrolled in continuous vetting and coordinate responses when additional information, documentation, or security actions are required.
  • Reporting Requirements: Educate cleared personnel on required reporting obligations and process reportable information in accordance with applicable government and organizational requirements.
  • Foreign Travel and Foreign Contacts: Process applicable foreign travel notifications and foreign contact reporting, provide required defensive-security information, and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Visit and Access Coordination: Process incoming and outgoing classified visit/access requests and verify the eligibility, access, need-to-know, and contractual/program requirements of visitors.
  • Personnel Security Records: Maintain complete, accurate, and appropriately protected security records while following applicable privacy, records-management, and retention requirements.
  • Security Education and Awareness: Provide ongoing guidance to cleared employees regarding security responsibilities, suspicious contacts, safeguarding requirements, insider-threat indicators, reporting obligations, and changes to security policy.
  • Incident and Adverse Information Support: Receive and appropriately route potential security incidents, adverse information, and other reportable matters while maintaining confidentiality and following established escalation procedures.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding: Coordinate security requirements for new hires, transfers, subcontractors, consultants, and departing personnel. Ensure required access is established or terminated promptly.
  • Compliance and Audit Support: Maintain documentation and records needed to demonstrate compliance and support internal reviews, government security reviews, and DCSA assessments.
  • FSO/ISSM/Program Support: Work closely with the Facility Security Officer (FSO), Insider Threat Program Senior Official, Information System Security personnel, program managers, contracts, HR, and government security representatives to resolve personnel-security matters.
  • Policy Compliance: Execute personnel-security activities in accordance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule), DCSA guidance, applicable contract/security requirements, and company security policies.
