Job Description:National Cyber Communications SpecialistPosition Summary The National Cyber Communications Specialist produces the operational communications that carry a cyber command center's findings to the audiences that act on them. This position writes alerts, advisories, leadership notices, and recurring threat updates for federal, State, Local, Tribal and Territorial, and private sector audiences. This role operates at volume and under tight deadlines. Products must be technically accurate, written for the audience receiving them, carry a clear release scope, and reach that audience within the window that makes them useful. The Communications Specialist works directly from analyst and intelligence output rather than waiting for finished narrative.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAlert & Advisory Production - Audience & Release Handling: Assign each product a clear audience and release scope (internal vs. partner vs. public), apply classification/handling requirements consistently, flag material for downgrade, and maintain distribution accuracy.
- Leadership & Crisis Communications: Prepare leadership notices and operational communications for decision-making in normal and crisis operations. Produce rapid-turn products and sustain output - including coordinated multi-product messaging - during high-tempo events, supporting crisis action team requirements and after-hours readiness.
- Editorial Standards & Quality: Maintain accuracy, clarity, consistency, and plain language across products, ensuring claims are traceable and appropriately qualified. Maintain and consistently apply templates, style guidance, and accessibility standards for government-facing material.
- Coordination with Analysts & Mission Partners: Work with watch-floor, intelligence, hunt, and incident staff to source and validate content; coordinate joint/multi-organization products; support outreach, community briefings, and threat-update engagements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience producing technical communications for cybersecurity or national security audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate written products at volume and under deadline.
- Ability to work from raw technical analysis and translate it for audiences with varying technical depth.
- Experience managing review, coordination, and release processes for published products.
- Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements for government-facing products.
- Strong editorial judgment and command of plain-language writing standards.
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Active Top Secret clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience supporting national-level cyber programs.
- Experience producing public or partner-facing cyber advisories.
- Experience with classification review and downgrade request processes.
- Experience coordinating products across federal, SLTT, and private sector stakeholders.
- Familiarity with threat intelligence terminology and structured reporting conventions.
The likely salary range for this position is $97,750 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
