Job Profile: Multi-functional Research Administration Manager
Job Summary: The Department of Anesthesiology, UW - Madison School of Medicine & Public Health, is seeking a Multi-Functional Research Administrative Manager to join our department's growing administrative team. The Multi-Functional Research Administrative Manager will perform grant lifecycle management in the Department of Anesthesiology and directly manage the work of our pre and post-award administration team. This position will work closely with our finance team, research program manager and an eclectic group of principle investigators, to oversee grant submissions, progress reports, grant closeout, compliance and budgetary changes throughout the lifecycle of an award. The Multi-Functional Research Administrative Manager position will report to the Research Program Manager. This role provides an ideal opportunity for an experienced grants administrator who is well-organized, financially inclined and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
- This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
- This is a 2 year position and has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.

Key Job Responsibilities: - Provides training to faculty, staff, and/or administrators within the unit regarding policy, procedure, and/or execution of sponsored project administration
- Executes research administration operational policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance on behalf of a unit
- Executes activities related to financial compliance, audit, or reporting on behalf of a unit
- Executes activities related to proposal submission, contract negotiation, and/or award setup on behalf of a unit
- May supervise the day-to-day activities of research administration staff
- Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders
- May have authority to submit proposals, agreements, or invoices to a sponsor on behalf of the principal investigator or project director
- Reviews and approves programmatic transactions spanning the life-cycle of sponsored projects to ensure compliance with institutional and/or sponsor policies and procedures

Compensation: The expected salary range for this position is $92,000 up to $106,390 for highly experienced candidates and actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications: - Experience in lifecycle management of extramurally funded federal awards
- Demonstrated experience developing and balancing large budgets
Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with Workday, UW-Madison, and the School of Medicine & Public Health grant submission and management procedures is highly desirable
- Prior management experience
- Experience with eRA Commons
- Experience working with research faculty
Education:Bachelor's degree preferred
