Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE
In an inpatient setting, sets up and utilizes all MRI equipment including imaging coils, patient monitoring systems, and related articles. Evaluate image quality by troubleshooting scanner or coil problems and scan parameters. Identifies and compensates for imaging artifacts. Reviews MRI registration and screening form thoroughly in order to confirm safe access into magnet room. Assists in training new MRI technologists and students. Performing all filming, archiving and PACS network data management for each patient scanned. Retrieves old MRI data for restoration and filming or networking. Master new techniques with each subsequent scanner upgrade. Receives training in as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from more senior technologists, including orientation to the Departments infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines. Responsible for scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the MRI department with appropriate post MRI instructions.

SUN-THU 10 PM - 6:30 AM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Identifies patient service requirements. Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Prepares patient for radiological/MRI procedures by positioning patient, adjusts immobilization devices, moves equipment into specified position, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors. Performs procedures by following and verifying referring provider's orders.
  • Applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
  • Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them, with other pertinent patient information, for timely interpretation.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Maintains production and quality of MRI images by following established standards, orders, protocols and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by adhering to MRI safety policies specific to MRI Zones. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
  • Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
  • May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist current NYS licensure upon hire required and
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with CE credits upon hire required
