Full Job Description
The Role
We are looking for a Motor Drive and Power Electronics Engineer to own the inverter hardware that powers Dexmate actuators. You will develop motor-drive circuits and PCBs from architecture through bench bring-up and production release. You will work closely with motor and embedded controls engineers so electrical limits, sensing and protection support the actuator's required performance.
Responsibilities
Define inverter architecture and electrical operating limits with the actuator lead, motor designer and robot power-system team.
Design power stages, gate drivers, DC-link components, current and voltage sensing, encoder interfaces and hardware protection circuits.
Own schematics, PCB layout or layout oversight, component selection and design reviews, including switching loops, grounding, isolation where needed and thermal constraints.
Bring up hardware with embedded controls engineers; verify switching behavior, sensing accuracy, losses and safe responses to electrical faults.
Develop bench characterization for efficiency, current capability and thermal performance; apply EMI/EMC principles and support pre-compliance testing.
Prepare production documentation and test requirements; work with manufacturers and electrical test engineers to resolve failures and improve manufacturability.
Minimum Qualifications
Designed and brought up a BLDC, PMSM or servo inverter or motor-drive product on real hardware.
Strong power-electronics fundamentals, including switching devices, gate drive, current measurement, PCB layout and protection.
Hands-on schematic and PCB experience with an industry-standard EDA tool, and strong oscilloscope, current-probe and power-analysis skills.
Working knowledge of field-oriented control and motor characteristics sufficient to co-design hardware and debug with firmware engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with high-density robot or servo drives, thermally constrained layouts and production release.
EMI/EMC pre-compliance, fault-injection testing or functional-safety-related hardware development.
Python-based test automation or familiarity with motor-control firmware at the hardware interface.
