The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking an Intermediate Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer to support our critical defense programs at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

The primary focus of this position is the modeling, simulation, and software-level representation of terrestrial RF signals and systems. This includes ground-based radar systems, tactical communication networks, terrestrial jammers, and electromagnetic environmental effects.

You will analyze intelligence-derived parametric data and design high-fidelity emitter and signal simulations to support hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) and software-in-the-loop (SWIL) testing.

Responsibilities:
· Terrestrial EW Signal Representation: Interpret parametric data, technical intelligence (TECHINT), and design documents to model ground-based RF emitters, tactical communications, and electronic attack (jamming) systems.

· Algorithm & Simulation Development: Create, test, and integrate algorithms that simulate complex terrestrial signals, including frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS), direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), and various analog/digital modulation schemes.

· RF Environment Modeling: Develop and configure simulation environments that account for terrestrial RF propagation factors such as terrain masking, multipath interference, atmospheric loss, and foliage penetration.

· System Logic & Behavior Modeling: Understand how threat systems operate and translate their operational logic, antenna patterns, and scan behaviors into functional software models.

· System Testing & Validation: Support the integration of threat models into simulated environments to test tactical EW software, evaluating how system-level characteristics affect signal emission and reception.

Qualifications:

Required:

· Citizenship & Clearance: US Citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (Active Secret Clearance preferred).

· Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in an engineering, modeling, or software development role.

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline).

· Software Fundamentals: Strong command of general programming fundamentals, including:

   · Variables, functions, Booleans, arrays, and array manipulation.

   · Algorithm design (translating physical inputs and mathematical logic into distinct outputs).

   · Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.

· Technical Adaptability: Proven ability to analyze physical systems (RF, mechanical, or logical) and represent them mathematically or programmatically.

· Office Tools: Comfortable using standard Windows-based productivity tools (Office Suite, Visio, etc.).

Desired:

EW & RF Principles: Sound knowledge of basic Electronic Warfare concepts (EA, EP, ES) and RF propagation principles.

· RF Propagation Modeling: Familiarity with terrestrial propagation models (e.g., Longley-Rice / ITM, TIREM, or APM).

· Technical Tools & Languages:

   · Experience with scientific programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C++ for signal processing or modeling.

   · Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDRs) and signal analysis frameworks (e.g., GNU Radio).

   · Familiarity with version control systems, specifically Git/GitLab.

· Laboratory Hardware: Basic experience or familiarity with RF test equipment and hardware analysis tools (Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers) and standard hardware connectivity protocols

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. Our employees value the flexibility at CACI that allows them to balance quality work and their personal lives. We offer competitive compensation, benefits and learning and development opportunities. Our broad and competitive mix of benefits options is designed to support and protect employees and their families. At CACI, you will receive comprehensive benefits such as; healthcare, wellness, financial, retirement, family support, continuing education, and time off benefits.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$69,600 - 142,700 USD
