Overview
William Charles Construction is hiring an Equipment Assistant to support our equipment department.
The Equipment Service Manager is responsible for but not limited to managing an efficient service operation ensuring all Company equipment and vehicles are serviced accurately according to manufacturer guidelines, safely, quickly and within budget constraint.
This role is based in our Rockford, IL office and is required to travel to various job site locations and equipment vendors approximately 15% of the time.
Responsibilities
Develops and enforces best practices within the Equipment Department business unit to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness
Identifies resources, assigns workloads, and manages schedules to ensure timely delivery of service work performed
Monitors field and shop service repair jobs and hours including closing all work orders in a timely manner
Manage and dispatch field/shop mechanics based on job priority, location, and technician skillset
Ensures work is performed accurately to manufacturer recommended standards and in compliance with company policies and procedures
Secures, analyzes and approves vendor quotes, and estimates for services, tools, parts, and supplies
Review invoices for accuracy and dispute any discrepancies
Applies knowledge to warranty items, warranty requests, and coordinate warranty repairs.
Ensures the operational availability of fleet equipment
Keep current on new technologies as they relate to management of equipment and apply accordingly.
Maintains a safe working environment in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulation, including DOT, OSHA and MSHA
Monitors and control inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies.
Develop and maintain vendor list and continuously monitor overall quality of service provided.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Equipment Service Management or Business Management preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Minimum 5 years of experience in servicing heavy equipment in the construction industry or dealership environment
Must have and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License with driving record that meets William Charles Construction's risk management guidelines
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Proficient with computer systems as they relate to utilization of scheduling of manpower/resources, implementation of preventative maintenance programs, inventory management systems, along with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience with ERP system - Visa Viewpoint Preferred
Thorough knowledge of cost tracking and equipment life cycles
