Position Overview:

The Mobile Maintenance Supervisor leads a team supporting mobile equipment at an autonomous gold mining operation. This hands-on leadership role requires regular time in the shop and field to provide technical guidance, set priorities, and hold the team accountable for safety, performance, and operational KPIs.

The supervisor oversees maintenance across drills, shovels, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, graders, light vehicles, and auxiliary equipment. The role is not expected to perform every repair but must have the technical knowledge to guide employees and support troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mobile maintenance team during assigned shifts, providing clear day-to-day direction, coaching, and technical guidance.
  • Oversee maintenance activities across the production and support fleet.
  • Maintain a regular presence in the shop and field to support employees, monitor work, and help resolve equipment issues.
  • Prioritize work and coordinate with maintenance control and other departments to support operating needs.
  • Manage KPIs, deliverables, and performance expectations while holding employees accountable for safe, effective work.
  • Promote compliance with MSHA regulations, site safety requirements, and equipment-isolation procedures.
  • Support autonomous operating-zone training, including train-the-trainer responsibilities for the maintenance department.
  • Maintain clear shift handovers, equipment-status updates, safety records, repair documentation, reports, files, and email communication.
  • Develop team members and identify employees who can provide second-in-command coverage when required.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of mobile equipment maintenance experience, preferably in an open-pit mining operation.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience as a lead person, foreman, supervisor, or maintenance planner with leadership responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of diesel engines, diesel-electric drive systems, high-pressure hydraulics, electrical and electronic controls, and OEM troubleshooting practices.
  • Experience supporting production and auxiliary equipment such as haul trucks, shovels, loaders, drills, dozers, graders, water trucks, service equipment, and light vehicles.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system to review work orders, equipment history, backlog, labor assignments, downtime, and repair documentation.
  • Knowledge of preventive and planned maintenance, breakdown response, major repairs, component changeouts, and basic failure-analysis practices.
  • Understanding of MSHA requirements, lockout/tagout, stored-energy control, equipment isolation, and mine-site safety practices.
  • Ability to provide firm, consistent direction, manage KPIs and deliverables, and hold employees accountable in a fast-paced operating environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook, as well as electronic file and maintenance reporting systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain required MSHA, site, autonomous operating-zone, and equipment-specific authorizations.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Heavy-equipment, diesel, electrical, mechanical, or related trade training is preferred. A technical diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical mining-maintenance experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous mining equipment or autonomous operating zones, including access controls, machine isolation, recovery procedures, autonomy interfaces, and coordination with mine control.
  • Experience with CAT 794 AC autonomous haul trucks or comparable ultra-class diesel-electric haul trucks; CAT 6060 hydraulic shovels; CAT 995 loaders; Epiroc PV271 or D65 drills; CAT D11 or D10 dozers; graders; and related support equipment.
  • Knowledge of CAT SIS, MineStar, Pronto Xi, or similar diagnostic, fleet-management, and maintenance-management systems.
  • Experience leading major component changeouts, complex troubleshooting, equipment recovery, commissioning, assembly, or mine-startup activities.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance planning, backlog management, parts coordination, job prioritization, and weekly maintenance scheduling.
  • Experience mentoring technicians, developing employees, or delivering train-the-trainer programs.
