Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex systems
  • Coordinate and perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and applications
  • Schedule and maintain installations and upgrades per IT policies
  • Monitor and tune multiple systems for optimal performance
  • Ensure workstation/server data integrity through effective solution management
  • Implement a backup and archive schedule for data/media recoverability
  • Plan and execute server modernization efforts
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures and schedules
  • Conduct audits of hardware and software for compliance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve end user issues.

Full Job Description
The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a potential need for a Mid-level System Administrator to provide support for our government customer in Laurel, MD at Ft. Meade

***POSITIOIN IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD.***

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers.
  • Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
  • Ensures data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Plans and implements for the modernization of servers.
  • Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules.
  • Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Supports end users through direct communication to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or another related field.
  • May be required to meet additional DCWF 8140/8570 certification requirements


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of Systems Administration experience in a secure DoD environment.
  • Experience with complex software installations and upgrades.
  • Experience working with workstations and servers.
  • Experience in providing end user customer service for troubleshooting and resolving issues.


REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
  • United States Citizenship required. (Green Card not acceptable)
  • Must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
