Summary of Job Duties:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/Physician Assistant (PA) in the Behavioral Health Service Line Consult Liaison service will augment the psychiatrist's ability to provide medical services to patients - collect and document data, conduct diagnostic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services throughout UAMS.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

APRN
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Arkansas
  • APRN License (PMHNP - Psychiatry Specialty)
  • National Certification as an APRN

PA
  • Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies
  • Physician Assistant Certificate of Registration with the Arkansas Medical Board
  • Physician Assistant Certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

Both
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire


Preferred Qualifications
  • Psychiatry inpatient experience
  • Current BLS

Job Requirements:
  • Provide comprehensive behavioral health assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care within the provider's scope of practice.
  • Obtain and document detailed psychiatric and medical histories, including presenting symptoms, mental health history, medications, substance use, social history, and risk factors.
  • Perform mental status examinations and assess patients for depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and other behavioral health conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, patient needs, evidence-based practices, and established standards of care.
  • Prescribe, administer, and manage psychiatric and other medications in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor medication effectiveness, therapeutic response, adverse effects, interactions, and patient adherence; adjust treatment as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric and medical follow-up to evaluate patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies and patients presenting with acute behavioral or safety concerns.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
