Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Career Geotechnical Engineer to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice in our Atlanta, or Kennesaw, GA; Austin, TX; or  Birmingham, AL  office. The position will apply engineering skills to projects involving landfills, mines, brownfields redevelopment, and other water and waste containment systems while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.The successful candidate will support geotechnical analyses, calculations, technical reporting, and project execution, helping to expand the team's technical capacity while developing toward project management and client-facing responsibilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Civil design, landfill design, and site layout.
  • Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage.
  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterization.
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems.
  • Small project/task management and proposal preparation support.
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications.
  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.
  • Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.). (preferred)
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain EIT certification within 2 years of hire. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, Slope/W, PLAXIS, FLAC, and GIS. (preferred)
  • Occasional fieldwork and overnight travel. (required).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (strongly preferred)
