OverviewGeosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Career Geotechnical Engineer to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice in our Atlanta, or Kennesaw, GA; Austin, TX; or Birmingham, AL office. The position will apply engineering skills to projects involving landfills, mines, brownfields redevelopment, and other water and waste containment systems while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.The successful candidate will support geotechnical analyses, calculations, technical reporting, and project execution, helping to expand the team's technical capacity while developing toward project management and client-facing responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Civil design, landfill design, and site layout.
- Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage.
- Geotechnical and environmental site characterization.
- Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems.
- Small project/task management and proposal preparation support.
- Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications.
- Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.
- Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks.
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
- Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.). (preferred)
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain EIT certification within 2 years of hire. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, Slope/W, PLAXIS, FLAC, and GIS. (preferred)
- Occasional fieldwork and overnight travel. (required).
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (strongly preferred)
