Title: Mgr Technical Training

POSITION CONCEPT:

The Mgr Training - Energy Supply will manage Energy Supply wide work force development program, including craft skills training, professional and leadership development, human performance initiatives and operations and maintenance procedure development, governance and compliance. Partner with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify competency needs, develop training and qualification programs, and ensure team members at all levels possess the knowledge, skills and behaviors necessary to perform their roles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of craft skills, technical, and operational training and assessments for all Energy Supply operating areas utilizing an instructional system design model. The objective is to ensure that front line craftsmen have the necessary training and skills to perform their roles safely, effectively and in alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and manage professional workforce development programs for Energy Supply, including onboarding, technical competency development, leadership development, project management, human performance improvement, succession planning, and continuing education for engineers, supervisors, managers, planners, and other teams.
  • Lead a cross-departmental team responsible for the planning, development, and administration of the procedure management program for all Energy Supply operating areas. This program includes the procedure development and approval process, the formatting of documents, document control, procedure hierarchy, use and adherence, inclusion/consideration of safe work practices, and procedure updates. The objective is to ensure that procedures exist for critical tasks in Energy Supply that include a thorough Job Hazard Analysis and instructions to ensure safety of team members and high-quality job performance.
  • Provide overall governance of procedure management and conduct routine procedure reviews and audits insuring procedure adherence and accuracy.
  • Prepare, review, and implement new procedures and training for capital projects. Document these procedures and turnover to the equipment owners upon completion of the project.
  • Oversee hands-on skills training activities to ensure that proper tools, equipment, and techniques are used, inspected, and maintained to perform work in an efficient and safe manner. Enforce all safe work practice policies.
  • Conduct and participate in procedure verification, validation, job hazard analysis, group evaluations, operational and maintenance testing, and tabletop exercises. Provide input and feedback.


EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited college/university. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 2 years of experience with an Associate's degree, or an additional 4 years of experience with a High School Diploma may be considered.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 8 years of experience Training, Leadership Development, and/or Education. 3 years of experience in procedure and/or training development roles.

Preferred: 2 years of Instructional system design (ISD) program development experience in a utility operations environment. Experience with planning, developing, and applying training needs analyses or assessments.

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE
Required: 3 years supervisory/people leadership experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Excellent organizational and collaboration skills, project management expertise and the ability to work with all levels of Energy Supply management. Proven proficient technical and leadership skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires frequent travel into plant. Exposure to plant conditions is required. Utilizing proper PPE will be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS:
Must be physically able to navigate through plant structure; including ascending / descending stairs (multiple levels).
