Responsible for growing Police Division revenue by developing and managing national accounts across State Police / Highway Patrol, OEM (Ford and GM), GSA / federal law enforcement, Military Police and base security, and National Outfitters. The role is charged with converting open-market opportunity into incremental booked business while protecting and expanding the existing state-agency base.
Key Activities/Responsibilities:- Own the national-account plan for State Police agencies; convert open states and expand already-converted agencies.
- Build and execute annual business plans for target national segments: State Police, OEM (Ford FPIU RFTR and GM/Chrysler), GSA / Federal Agencies, Military Police and base security, and National Outfitters.
- Achieve assigned revenue and gross-profit targets for state-agencies with additional incremental contribution from OEM, GSA, Military, and Outfitter channels.
- Establish direct relationships with agency fleet leadership, OEM police-program managers, GSA contracting officers, and national outfitter buying teams, so the division is not solely dependent on distribution.
- Coordinate with RSM's, SRSM's, SM's, in territories that have state and federal business; coordinate with those managers plus Marketing, Product, Customer Support, to assist in strategies, evaluations, and close conversions without bypassing local territorial SM's coverage.
- Partner with other FS divisions where military-base presence can be leveraged for Police/Federal and Fire opportunities.
- Track pipeline, win/loss, capture rate, and replacement-cycle timing; report progress against the three-year national-account forecast.
- Represent Federal Signal with professionalism at agency visits, OEM program reviews, and industry events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales
Education, Skills & Experience:- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3+ years of sales experience in emergency vehicle equipment, warning lights, public safety, or related safety & security markets.
- Proven success selling to state/federal agencies, OEMs, or national accounts.
- Knowledge of Federal Signal and competitive products (Whelen, SoundOff, and others), including features, customer benefits, and competitive positioning.
- Military and State or Government experience strongly preferred.
- Willing to travel at least 60% (estimated annual travel budget supports national coverage).
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong planning, forecasting, and major-account management skills.
- Ability to work independently as an individual contributor while coordinating internally with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations
Salary Range: Base of $85,000 - $95,000 Plus SIP Bonus
