Full Job Description
Responsibilities

The Manager of Plant Operations / Safety Officer/ Emergency Preparedness is responsible for the management and coordination of construction projects as well as other facility related projects assigned by Director to meet departmental goals. The position establishes effective working relationships with hospital staff, contractors, design consultants and authorities having jurisdiction such as city building officials, TDH, TJC, CMS, etc. The ability to complete multiple projects on time and within budget is required. The position is expected to develop and implement emergency and continuity plans, policies, and protocols. Design, develop, administer and provide training and exercises for all campuses and areas. Must have a working knowledge of the Joint Commission, OSHA, Texas DSHS, CMS and other applicable regulatory agencies. The position works to manage and maintain a program to protect staff, patients, physicians and visitors by implementing standardized best EC and EM practice, planning and preparedness. The Manager Plant Operations/Safety Office/Emergency Preparedness is expected to display a positive attitude as well as leadership attributes within the Facilities department. This position also serves as the

Hazardous Material Coordinator.

Qualifications

Baccalaureate Degree in a related field required. Masters preferred. 10 years' experience will be considered in place of degree.

Must have at least three (3) years' experience in project or construction management or emergency management/or worked in an acute care hospital with experience of hospital regulatory compliance.

Must have or be able to obtain CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager Certification) within three years from the date of hire. Must have or be able to obtain CHEP (Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional) within one year of hire date. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Includes the ability to read Life Safety Plans and schematics on electrical and mechanical equipment. Must be familiar with building maintenance and construction techniques, equipment and operation of various systems. Must be familiar with applicable codes: federal, state, city, NFPA and TJC regulations relating to healthcare facilities. Knowledge in conducting Hazard Vulnerability Assessments, After Action Reviews, and Emergency Response Exercises.
