Skills / Responsibilities
The MEP Component Team is responsible for early project definition, integration, and delivery of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across the project lifecycle. In short, on behalf of the Beck team, the MEP Component Team owns the performance, cost, and constructability of our MEP systems, from concept through commissioning.
1. Early Phase Definition (Pre-EOR Engagement)
As a primary member of our MEP Component Team this early phase definition role is all about defining the systems before design begins and fits within our Launch and TVD process at Beck. Many of these tasks and activities exist because this phase occurs prior to an EOR being hired for MEP Design Consultancy. Our projects benefit from MEP Component Team involvement at this stage by eliminating false starts and setting a healthy trajectory for the project. Responsibilities include:
2. Design Oversight & Integration
Additionally, our MEP Component Team ensures this early phase definition activity includes defining the systems before design begins and ensuring the design will actually work and project compliance with established guidelines. At this point, the MEP Component Team is transitioning into a role of liaison between the Beck project team (including Beck Architecture) and the Engineers of Record, and also beginning to perform compliance and adherence to project standards through a peer review capacity. Transferring early project knowledge to onboarded MEP Design Consultants is of key importance here to ensure smooth transition and a continuance of integration of the disciplines. Responsibilities include:
3. Procurement & Cost Control
As projects begin to be bought out and our trade partners are being onboarded, responsibilities shift to protect Beck, the project scope and prevent future change orders due to poor coordination and integration. Responsibilities include:
4. Execution Support & System Delivery
And finally, when projects move into the operations side of the business and move into the field, the MEP Component team makes sure what is designed actually gets built and works for the client. Responsibilities include:
