Position Overview:
The MEP engineer supports the successful execution of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression (MEPF) systems throughout the construction process. This role provides hands-on field support to ensure MEP work is installed in accordance with project documents, specifications, applicable codes, and established quality standards. The MEP engineer works closely with MEP trade partners, project management, field supervision, design teams, and the MEP manager to identify and resolve field issues, track progress, maintain accurate documentation, and support the coordination and installation of MEP systems. This position is intended to develop a strong understanding of MEP construction, project coordination, and field operations as a foundation for advancement into an MEP coordinator role.
Responsibilities:
- Preconstruction Responsibilities:
- BIM participation and oversight
- Procurement and planning
- Construction Responsibilities
- Submittal and shop drawing management
- Review and management of RFIs
- Assist in prepping and processing change orders
- Document control
- Manage lead times to fit into schedule
- Trade partner and field management
- Technical oversight
- QA/QC
- Commissioning, closeout, and turnover
- Reporting Structure:
- Reports to MEP Manager
- Works closely with:
- Trade Partners - manage procurement, coordination, installation, and commissioning activities
- PM Team - MEP schedule, commissioning timelines, and change orders
- BIM/VDC Team - maintain BIM timeline, responsibilities, and model accuracy
- Quality Control & Safety Teams - ensure MEP systems meet project standards, code compliance, and safety protocol
- Commissioning Agents - facilitate startup, functional testing, and handover
- Accountability & Performance Metrics:
- Understanding of MEPF systems
- Productive participation in BIM coordination
- Accuracy and timeliness with submittals and submittal logs
- Scope completeness and coordination
- Schedule adherence
- Installation quality and code compliance
- Change management
- Issue resolution efficiency
- Commissioning progress/readiness
What We're Looking For:
- Valid driver's license.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, Procore, and scheduling software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans and specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
- Self-starter with strong organizational, file management, and time management skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a team-based environment
- Ability to problem solve and develop outcomes with multiple stakeholders
- A knowledge seeker who will ask why and research things they do not understand

Full Time / Salary Range: $80k- $110k per year depending on experience
