Full Job Description

Position Description:

The Events Director will play a strategic and hands-on role in shaping and delivering events for Bain Capital’s investors, portfolio company leaders, employees, and other stakeholders. Working closely with the global events team, senior leaders across the firm, and external partners, this individual will translate business and marketing objectives into thoughtful event strategies and experiences and own the work required to bring them to life.

We seek an experienced events leader who is creative, strategic, and planful, with the judgment and execution skills to bring ideas to life. This individual will understand what Bain Capital is trying to accomplish and communicate through an event, develop a point of view on how the experience should take shape, and translate that vision into a clear plan for execution. This individual will also be comfortable advising internal and external partners on how an event should take shape as they are managing the details required to deliver it.

This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role. The Events Director will lead events from initial concept through on-site execution, working across both the strategic and practical elements of each program. Bain Capital’s internal and external events range in size from 10–1000 attendees and vary in complexity, from global investor conferences to CEO summits and firmwide employee gatherings.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Shaping event strategy and vision: Partnering with the global events team, brand and marketing colleagues, and senior leaders to understand objectives, audiences, and desired outcomes and translating them into event concepts, experiences, and plans. Bringing ideas, expertise, and a point of view to how events can engage audiences and bring Bain Capital’s objectives to life.
  • Leading end-to-end event planning and execution: Translating event strategy and creative vision into clear, actionable plans and owning multiple events simultaneously from initial concept through planning, production, on-site delivery, and follow-up. Owning multiple events simultaneously from initial concept through planning, production, on-site delivery, and follow-up. Developing and managing timelines, budgets, workstreams, and contingency plans; sourcing and overseeing venues and external partners; and managing all aspects of event delivery, including accommodations, transportation, food and beverage, audiovisual and technology needs, collateral, gifting, and guest logistics. Taking a hands-on approach and stepping into whatever work is needed—from strategic problem-solving to preparing event materials—to deliver a high-quality experience.
  • Managing stakeholder and team collaboration: Building trusted relationships with senior leaders and internal partners and coordinating across teams and external partners to establish clear roles, decisions, and priorities throughout the planning and execution process.
  • Applying insights and driving continuous improvement: Gathering feedback and assessing event outcomes against original objectives to understand what worked, what could be improved, and how learnings should inform future events. Sharing and applying those insights to strengthen event strategy, experiences, and ways of working overtime.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in event planning or marketing is preferred.
  • 12 – 15+ years of relevant experience leading sophisticated corporate, investor, executive, VIP, or high-end hospitality events, with demonstrated ownership from concept through execution.
  • A creative, strategic, and planful thinker who understands business and marketing objectives, develops a point of view, and translates them into effective event experiences and actionable plans.
  • A trusted partner who exercises strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
  • A highly organized project leader who manages multiple complex events and competing priorities while maintaining close attention to detail.
  • A proactive, hands-on problem solver who anticipates needs, adapts to changing circumstances, and takes on work at every level when needed.
  • A curious, continuous learner who seeks feedback, applies lessons learned, and brings new ideas and relevant best practices to future events.
  • A strong communicator and collaborator with demonstrated experience in negotiation, budget management, and vendor management.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40% and work evenings and weekends as event schedules require.

Compensation:

Expected Annual Base Salary: $175,000 - $190,000

Actual base salary will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications and geographic location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance.
