San Francisco, CA (in office) • Full-timeAbout the roleYou'll help create our medical content from research to finished piece. That means reading the studies, finding the story, writing the script, and helping produce it into video, audio, and social content people want to watch. You're part medical writer, part producer, and someone who's excited to dig in when major research or news breaks.
What you'll do- Read and critically appraise clinical literature across therapeutic areas, including trials, reviews, and guidelines.
- Develop story ideas and pitch them, then write scripts for short-form video, long-form explainers, podcasts, and social.
- Help produce content: plan shoots, prep experts, support interviews, write shot lists, and work with editors on cuts.
- Track developments in medicine and the health market, including approvals, label changes, pipeline readouts, pricing, coverage, and policy, and turn them into timely content.
- Write a regular trend brief for internal teams.
- Fact-check everything and keep a source file for each piece.
- Work with clinical reviewers, designers, and the social team on publishing and distribution.
What you bring- 0-3 years of experience in medical writing, medical communications, health content production, or a related field. Recent graduates with strong writing samples are encouraged to apply.
- Writing samples required. Produced work (video, audio, or multimedia) is a plus, including student or personal projects.
- Comfort reading medical research and literature, including trial data: endpoints, effect sizes, confidence intervals, and study limitations.
- Ability to break down complex medical topics so a general audience can understand them, without losing accuracy.
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on unfamiliar therapeutic areas.
- Scripts written for the ear. Short sentences, clear structure, no jargon dumps.
- Experience writing scripts for social media: strong hooks in the first few seconds, pacing for short-form video, and adapting one idea across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Understanding of how social media algorithms work, including what drives reach, watch time, and engagement on each platform, and how to use analytics to improve content.
Nice to have- Advanced degree in a life science or health field (PhD, PharmD, MPH, RD, MD).
- Interest in video and audio production, with some hands-on experience (interviewing, storyboarding, or editing in Premiere, Final Cut, Descript, or similar).
- On-camera or voiceover experience.
- Motion graphics skills.
- Experience with health-content regulations or editorial standards.
How we'll measure success- Accurate content: zero factual corrections.
- Consistent output on schedule.
- Fast turnaround on news, with accurate content within 48 hours of a major study or FDA decision.
- Engagement and audience growth on content you help produce.
