Job Description

The Department of Radiation Oncology of the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine, Seattle, WA invites applications for a position as a staff Medical Physicist.

Key Responsibilities

This practice treats approximately 30 patients per day on one linear accelerator as well as a brachytherapy service for prostate implants.

Primary responsibilities of the current position are to support the planning and delivery of radiotherapy including external beam, brachytherapy, treatment planning, dosimetry, treatment verification, quality assurance, staff training and consults with other providers and patients.

Specific duties include

  • Quality assurance of linear accelerators (20%),
  • Imaging equipment and brachytherapy equipment (10%),
  • Brachytherapy procedures (10%),
  • plan and chart review (30%),
  • routine clinical support (20%), and
  • commissioning, maintaining, and improving equipment (10%).

The Medical Physicist must work in a team environment in support of radiotherapy resources of the department.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in medical physics or related field
  • 2 years' clinical experience
  • Board Certified or Board eligibility in therapeutic radiological physics by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
